{"id":618,"date":"2015-05-28T15:13:21","date_gmt":"2015-05-28T20:13:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/facultycorner.com\/main\/?p=618"},"modified":"2015-05-29T13:56:01","modified_gmt":"2015-05-29T18:56:01","slug":"cpe-evaluation-toolkit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/facultycorner.com\/main\/2015\/05\/28\/cpe-evaluation-toolkit\/","title":{"rendered":"CPE Evaluation Toolkit"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The last day of school included staff development covering the evaluation system that will be used next year. \u00a0 \u00a0The evaluation system was changed as a direct result of the 2010 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.isbe.net\/pera\/\" target=\"_blank\">Performance Evaluation Reform Act<\/a> (PERA) signed by Governor Pat Quinn. \u00a0As a result of this legislation, teacher evaluations must\u00a0include data and indicators of student growth as a significant factor.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/facultycorner.com\/main\/wp-content\/images\/professional-development.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-621\" title=\"auditorium\" src=\"http:\/\/facultycorner.com\/main\/wp-content\/images\/professional-development.jpg\" alt=\"professional-development\" width=\"575\" height=\"597\" srcset=\"http:\/\/facultycorner.com\/main\/wp-content\/images\/professional-development.jpg 650w, http:\/\/facultycorner.com\/main\/wp-content\/images\/professional-development-289x300.jpg 289w, http:\/\/facultycorner.com\/main\/wp-content\/images\/professional-development-578x600.jpg 578w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 575px) 100vw, 575px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The question of &#8220;student growth&#8221; is one that can raise concerns among teachers. \u00a0Other states have chosen to use standardized tests, like PAARC for their evaluation systems, a decision that has sparked major <a href=\"http:\/\/PARCC's tie to teacher evaluations drives controversy\" target=\"_blank\">controversy<\/a> in states like New Jersey.<\/p>\n<p>Granite City School District has developed a model for measuring student growth and evaluating staff, which was created\u00a0by\u00a0a team of union members and administration. \u00a0Our last day of school, Denise Albrecht held a staff development meeting where the evaluation system was outlined. \u00a0 All of the files are available at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gcsd9.net\/Staff\">staff website<\/a>, and we received a manual that day.<\/p>\n<p>The main points of this new system are as follows:<\/p>\n<p>1. \u00a0We will NOT be using PAARC scores as part of teacher evaluations.<\/p>\n<p>2. \u00a0Teachers will track student growth using pre-tests and post-tests, designed around units or chapters (Type 3\u00a0Assessments). \u00a0During the first year, these assessments will be the only ones used as a measure of growth.<\/p>\n<p>3. \u00a0Starting the 2016-2017 school year, Type 2 Assessments will also be used. These will be developed by schools or departments and be common for grades or subjects.<\/p>\n<p>4. \u00a0Students can be excluded from assessments for reasons such as low attendance or catastrophic events in their life. \u00a0Documentation will be needed for the exclusions.<\/p>\n<p>5. \u00a0Pre and Post Assessments will be recorded\/submitted using an excel template developed by the team.<\/p>\n<p>6. \u00a0Teachers will also be evaluated by an administration team using the <a href=\"https:\/\/danielsongroup.org\/framework\/\" target=\"_blank\">Danielson Framework<\/a>.
